Abstract

Zakat management in Indonesia generally focuses on improving the welfare of mustahik (zakat recipients), whereas the impact of the religious dimension on the welfare of muzakki (zakat payers) themselves receives minimal attention. This quantitative study aims to analyze the effect of religiosity on the welfare of muzakki. Primary data were collected using Likert-scale questionnaires distributed to 219 registered muzakki at the National Board of Zakat (BAZNAS) of East Java Province and analyzed using regression analysis techniques. The results indicate that religiosity has a direct, positive, and significant effect on muzakki welfare. These findings suggest that religiosity is a key determinant in achieving holistic welfare, encompassing both spiritual peace and material sufficiency. Indicator analysis reveals that the declaration of faith (shahada) is the most dominant element shaping the muzakki's religiosity variable. Practically, this research offers an important empirical contribution for BAZNAS of East Java Province in formulating zakat utilization programs that go beyond fund collection to integrate sustainable religious education, thereby strengthening religious values and comprehensively optimizing muzakki welfare.
