The increasing intensity of social media use among adolescents has the potential to trigger Fear of Missing Out (FoMO), a psychological condition characterized by anxiety about missing information, experiences, or social activities of others. This phenomenon not only influences digital behavior but also affects students' lifestyles. This study aimed to analyze the formation of Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) resulting from social media use and its impact on the lifestyles of students at SMP Negeri 1 Tanjung Morawa. This study employed a qualitative approach using a case study method. The participants consisted of six students from Grades VII, VIII, and IX who were selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation, and were analyzed using data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Data trustworthiness was ensured through source triangulation, technique triangulation, and member checking. The findings revealed that intensive social media use contributed to the development of FoMO through three main themes: social comparison, the need for self-validation through digital responses, and lifestyle changes characterized by increased social media use, a tendency to follow trends, and changes in study habits, time management, and sleeping patterns. The study concludes that FoMO is a psychosocial process shaped by the interaction between intensive social media use, social comparison, and the need for self-validation, which subsequently influences students' lifestyles. Therefore, strengthening digital literacy and self-regulation is essential as a foundation for developing guidance and counseling services in schools to promote healthy and responsible social media use.
