Abstract

Conceptually, this paper aims to find out the main points of Mukti Ali's thoughts both about Islamic education and about Islamic development. Through the discussion of this article, it is concluded that according to Mukti Ali there are 3 types of Islamic education methodologies, naqli (traditional), aqli (rational), and kassyfi (mystical). The main points of Mukti Ali's thoughts on development are 4: the origin of the term development began to spread after World War II, development is not westernization, the development strategy that is suitable for the conditions of the Indonesian nation according to him is development with a pluralistic strategy, and Indonesia's national development goals are the creation of human qualities and the quality of advanced society in an atmosphere of peace and prosperity physically and spiritually.
