Abstract

Teachers play a strategic role in shaping the intellectual and moral foundation of the nation. However, in carrying out their professional duties, teachers often face various legal risks, including criminalization, intimidation, and complaints from students or parents. These challenges place teachers in a vulnerable position and highlight the need for clear and effective legal protection. This study aims to examine the forms of legal protection available to teachers from a normative juridical perspective based on Law Number 14 of 2005 on Teachers and Lecturers, the National Education System Law, and other relevant regulations. The findings reveal that although legal protection for teachers has been normatively regulated through preventive and repressive measures, its implementation remains suboptimal due to weak law enforcement, limited legal literacy among teachers, and insufficient institutional support. Therefore, strengthening legal frameworks, enhancing teachers’ legal awareness, and fostering collaboration between the government, professional organizations, and educational institutions are essential to ensure the realization of sustainable teacher professionalism.
