Abstract

The development of digital technology has brought significant changes in various aspects of life, including resolving business disputes. In the digital era, traditional dispute resolution mechanisms are considered less efficient in responding to modern challenges that demand speed, flexibility and affordability. This article discusses the development of business dispute resolution in the digital era with a focus on the application of Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) as an innovative alternative. ODR offers easy access, cost savings and time efficiency through an online platform, allowing disputing parties to resolve conflicts without physical presence. Technologies such as blockchain and artificial intelligence (AI) further strengthen the effectiveness of ODR in dealing with cross-jurisdictional disputes, e-commerce disputes, and conflicts involving digital data. However, the implementation of ODR is faced with challenges such as limited legal frameworks, imbalances in digital infrastructure, data privacy risks, and potential algorithm bias. Therefore, clear regulations, strengthening technological infrastructure, and collaboration between government, the private sector and the international community are needed. In conclusion, ODR is not only an alternative solution but also part of digital transformation in resolving business disputes. With proper development, ODR has the potential to become a key mechanism supporting efficiency and transparency in modern legal systems.
