Abstract

Family resilience in the era of disruption faces increasingly complex challenges due to social changes, technological advancements, and shifts in cultural values that can weaken family structures and functions. In this context, family counseling serves as an essential strategy for strengthening family resilience, emphasizing spirituality as the primary foundation. This study aims to explore and analyze the effectiveness of spiritually based family counseling in enhancing family resilience through the revitalization of religious practices. The research focuses on a father as the primary subject undergoing a series of counseling sessions, including the correct recitation of prayers (shalat), the discipline of regular worship, and the reinforcement of religious awareness that highlights the importance of returning to God and understanding the transient nature of life. Additionally, the counseling process emphasizes the balance between worldly responsibilities and spiritual obligations as the core pillars of family resilience. The counseling approach employed is multidimensional, incorporating the wirid oplosan method as a medium for spiritual reinforcement, along with behavioral and cognitive therapy techniques designed to reconstruct thought patterns and worship habits. The second subject in this study is the child of the primary subject, who undergoes intervention through the creating condition strategy, which fosters behavioral transformation, cognitive strengthening, and optimization of a social environment that supports religious practices. The study’s findings indicate that strengthening these two core elements within the family—the father and child—through worship-based counseling significantly impacts overall family resilience. The observed changes include increased emotional bonds within the family, reinforcement of moral and ethical values, and enhanced family endurance in facing the challenges of the disruption era. Thus, spiritually based family counseling is proven to be an effective instrument in shaping a harmonious, resilient, and adaptive family, ultimately fortifying long-term family resilience.
