Abstract

This study aims to explore and evaluate the effectiveness of combining religious practices (worship) and counseling approaches in enhancing students' learning interest. The research utilizes the Twin Single Subject Design (TSSSD), which allows for a comparative analysis of two subjects with similar characteristics, while providing different interventions in the form of worship and counseling to assess their impact on learning interest. In this context, the worship treatment refers to regular spiritual activities, which are believed to enhance intrinsic motivation and spiritual connection, while the counseling approach focuses on providing psychological support and problem-solving strategies to address mental and emotional barriers to learning.

The two subjects involved in this study were students initially showing low learning motivation but with similar academic and social backgrounds. Each subject received alternating interventions of worship and counseling over a specific period. The results indicate that the worship treatment plays a key role in improving students’ emotional and spiritual well-being, which contributes to increased persistence and concentration in learning. On the other hand, the counseling approach was effective in helping students overcome anxiety and fear of failure, which hindered their learning interest.

A significant increase in learning interest was observed in both subjects after they underwent the combined interventions of worship and counseling. These findings emphasize that a holistic approach involving both spiritual and psychological aspects simultaneously can provide greater impact compared to using just one approach alone. The Twin Single Subject design allowed for the evaluation of changes in a more personalized and in-depth context, offering clearer insights into the specific effects of each treatment on students' learning interest.

Overall, this study suggests that integrating worship practices with counseling approaches can be an effective model for enhancing students’ learning interest, particularly in educational settings that require a more comprehensive approach to support both academic and personal development. These findings have important implications for designing integrated educational interventions that cater to students with diverse emotional and motivational needs.
